Mar y Zielo

Why we recommend Mar y Zielo

Mar y Zielo offers one of Cartagena’s most romantic dining experiences, right in the heart of the old city. Set in a beautifully restored colonial house, its candlelit stone walls and thoughtful design create an intimate, memorable atmosphere. The menu iscocina de autor colombianoat its best—fresh seafood, vibrant sauces, and carefully composed plates that highlight the region’s bounty and the chef’s creativity. The kitchen is led by the talented María Stella Zapa Fernández, whose vision brings the best of Colombian ingredients to life in new and exciting ways—a detail we’re especially proud to celebrate at Magno. Service here is consistently above and beyond, making you feel truly taken care of from start to finish. If you want an escape from the heat you can dine on the lower levels, but we really enjoy the rooftop. Depending on the season it can be warm, but you’ll have one of the most charming views in town, with a towering cathedral lit up against the night sky and Cartagena’s historic rooftops all around.

About Our Recommendations

Cartagena isn’t just a destination for us—it’s where we call home. We love this city, and sharing that with others comes naturally. Friends always ask us for recommendations, so we put together this little guide—no gimmicks, no tourist traps, just the spots we genuinely love. It’s not a definitive list, just a few of our personal favorites here at Magno.
