Viva la Vida

Why we recommend Viva la Vida

You enter through the Convention Center, past the lobby, past the office building energy, past the kind of hallway that makes you question whether you wrote down the right address. And then you step outside onto the rooftop and the city opens up in front of you: the harbor, the Muelle de los Pegasos, the clock tower, the bay. People who visit without knowing what to expect have described it as an actual shock. That contrast is part of what makes it memorable.

The food and cocktails are genuinely good. The kitchen is serious and the menu is creative, but the view and ambiance are the real reasons to come.

One heads up: when we visited they had a welcome ritual involving a singing bowl and a dot on your forehead. Some people will find this charming. Others will find it a bit much when all they want is to sit down and enjoy the view.

What We Love

  • The rooftop reveal after walking through the Convention Center is genuinely spectacular
  • Panoramic views over Cartagena Bay, the harbor, and the clock tower
  • Michelin-starred chef Félix Jiménez in the kitchen
  • Inventive Japanese-Caribbean fusion cuisine
  • Creative cocktail menu

What to know

  • The Convention Center entrance feels like walking into a corporate office
  • The welcome ritual may not be for everyone
  • Hard to get a seat, book well in advance
  • Service can be slow during busy periods
